My father used to take Lal to events in his later years and enter free as his "manager".They once came off dad's motor bike in some horse muck in Brigg, with the cycle around Lal's neck! I went to Lal's home once and saw his silver but was told the gold was in the bank.My father said at one time Lal held every British record from quarter mile to 25 miles. Is that true? He also said a german had pushed him off the bike at the Olympics.
I have a signed pic of Lal.

People have been leaving spiritual messages in the natural world for hundreds of years from the time when early man first decided to paint on the walls of their caves. Maybe it was ill considered of our ancestors to transport all those big rocks to Stonehenge and leave them there in a place they don't belong, dominating the natural landscape. Yet thousands of people from all over the world visit them. I hope the stanza stones are being celebrated in the same way years from now. Poetry is in the souls of us all. What a fantastic way to share poems about our natural world. Can't wait to go and see them!!!

This is one of the most irresponsible and ill considered projects undertaken by any artist in history. To unnecessarily despoil natural rocks anywhere in the countryside, is vandalism in the eyes of many. Many too, will see this as an appalling example to young people, who should be encouraged to do all they can to protect and preserve our dwindling natural countryside.

Enjoyed the performance and thought all the performers were super and the 8 and 9 year old children of Flamborough School were great as a choir and dancers. A very big thank you to Em who helped the children with their singing and Jan and Sarah who worked so hard on the costumes and dance. Finally a big thank you to the adults who ferried the children on Saturday and Sunday it was no mean feat. Thank you to the wonderful floor manager who kept everyone right with their cues. Congratulations to one and all.
