Layla Rosa

Layla is helping to create The Giant and the Bear.

Layla is a theatre maker, circus director, choreographer and founder member of the Shunt collective.

Over the last 12 years she has been involved in creating exciting animations of unusual spaces both indoors and outdoors, through the forms of circus, physical and visual theatre. Her work has also taken place in more traditional theatre and circus contexts.

Her own works include Sull Lull, What if…?, The Bellydance, Strings on Strings and Duelling Banjos.  As a founding artist of the Shunt collective she has created The Tennis Show, Dance Bear Dance, Tropicana, Amato Saltone and  Money.

Layla has also created circus work and visual installation for The Roundhouse, Crying out Loud, La Breche, Jacksons Lane, Nuffield Theatre, Glastonbury festival, Womad festival and St Magnus Festival.

She has worked as aerial director and consultant on Marisa Carnesky’s Ghost Train tour of the UK, Metta Theatres production of ‘Sexing the Cherry’ at the Royal Festival Hall, and on Unlimited Theatre’s ‘Mission to Mars’ at The Polka Theatre.

For The Circus Space she has choreographed aerial for all the London Youth Circus productions, and has taught aerial disciplines for over 10 years.

Layla is thrilled to be creating ‘The Giant and The Bear’ with Unlimited Theatre and Hide and Seek for Leeds.
