Kaleidoscope, projected at Leeds Light Night 2010
If you were in Leeds, Wakefield or Scarborough last winter, your feet might be famous!
As part of The Moving Body in the City, artists Matt and Rob Vale were out and about looking at the way people move through urban landscapes. The resulting images were projected through their gigantic kaleidoscope to create stunning patterns against unexpected backdrops.
This was just one part of The Moving Body in the City project, which saw some amazing artists exploring the connection between the moving body and public spaces in Yorkshire, taking their inspiration from sources as diverse as the filming of Billy Liar in Leeds to the creation of the brand new Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield.
Commissioned by Lumen and imove, artists Rachel Goodyear, Emily Richardson, Tyman & Rushton, Bernd Behr and Rob and Matt Vale used places in Leeds, Wakefield, Scarborough and Holmfirth to examine how these cities are shaped by people moving through them.
